Gift supports the Libraries’ highest priorities
Marsha Puz Lloyd ’74 graduated from the Claire Trevor School of the Arts with a concentration in studio art. Visits to public libraries as a child, coupled with a volunteer opportunity in the UCI Libraries in her junior year, ultimately led to a 36-year career as a public librarian with the Kern County Library. The gratitude that she felt for her successful career inspired her to support the UCI Libraries with an endowment gift facilitate the Libraries' highest priorities.
As the branch supervisor of the Kern County Library - Ridgecrest Branch, she shared that she always appreciated when donors made discretionary gifts to her library. Those gifts, she said, “allowed for the greatest flexibility, when there were needs that did not receive funding from the County or other resources.”
As an endowed fund, this gift will provide the Libraries with an evergreen source of support for projects such as improving our study spaces, collection development, new technologies, and staff development. Mrs. Lloyd explains, “[the] Library is critically important to the University and I hope that the campus community knows that.”
