UC Irvine Libraries are proud to announce the UC Presidential Open Access Policy to ensure future research articles authored by non-Senate researchers at all ten UC campuses will be made available to the public at no charge. Building on UC's previously adopted Academic Senate Open Access Policy, the UC Presidential OA Policy enables the university system and associated national labs to provide broad public access to scholarly research authored by non-Senate researchers, lecturers, librarians, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and administrative staff, among others.
Author works can be deposited to eScholarship, or other digital repositories, to be freely and openly available to the public using the UC Publication Management System. The University of California recognizes the benefits that accrue to its authors as individual scholars and to the scholarly enterprise from such wide dissemination, including greater recognition, more thorough review, consideration, and critique, and a general increase in scientific, scholarly, and critical knowledge.
UCI Libraries are encouraging UCI faculty, graduate students and other researchers to obtain an ORCID® identifier (ID) and link their publications, funding, and professional associations. ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and ensures that your work is recognized by linking you to your professional activities. Register your ORCID iD today, and stand out in the sea of researchers. Unlike other research IDs, your ORCID iD is universal. It's not tied to any institution or database, and it can follow you wherever your research takes you. This identifier protects your unique scholarly identity and helps you keep your publication record up-to-date with very little effort. When you use your ORCID iD in a grant proposal or publication submission, documents can be easily associated with you. The history of your scholarly outputs persists in ORCID with no manual adjustments of your work and can be transferred to other institutions or organizations. Your ORCID iD connects your contributions and affiliations, across disciplines, borders, and time.
