UCI Launches Improved Method for Formatting, Submitting and Discovering Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs)

ImageThe UCI Libraries Digital Scholarship Services (DSS) unit, in partnership with UCI Graduate Division, is excited to announce the launch of an improved Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) website and process for publication and discovery. This new process, will help students comply with Open-Access requirements for scholarly research, which were set forth by the University of California (UC) system in 2010.

Beginning this fall quarter, all ETDs submitted after Oct. 16, 2014 will be openly available in eScholarship, the Open-Access repository for the University of California. During this initial launch week, which was also Open Access Week (Oct. 24-28, 2016), the UCI Libraries DSS unit provided a number of trainings and seminars on how to utilize the new ETD services. The unit will also highlight the various benefits of the new process to graduate students, including more cost-effective Open-Access publishing, faster accessibility to the public and hiring institutions and increased visibility and citation rates.
