New Assistant University Librarian for Public Services
The Libraries recently welcomed Alison Regan as the new Assistant University Librarian for Public Services. Alison will provide leadership of the Libraries' Public Services Division that supports the research, teaching, learning, and clinical activities of the campus. The Public Services division encompasses a number of critical library functions, including in-person and virtual reference, outreach and library instruction programs, and interlibrary loan and document delivery. Staff in the Public Services Division are also responsible for checking out materials and managing reserves, maintaining the Libraries' Information Technology infrastructure, and managing the Libraries' website.
In addition, the AUL for Public Services provides oversight and direction for the Grunigen Medical Library. As a member of the senior management team, Alison will serve as an ambassador for the Libraries to various campus constituencies, UC system wide groups, and regional and national organizations.
Alison holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in English from University of Texas - Austin, an M.L.S. from the University of Maryland - College Park, an M.s.Ed. in Secondary Education from University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in English from University of Pennsylvania. She has filled a variety of roles in her professional career, most recently serving as Head of Scholarship and Education Services at the University of Utah Marriott Library. Previous roles have included Acting Head of Digital Scholarship Lab, Faculty Outreach Fellow and Head of the Technology Assisted Curriculum Center, and various positions as a professor, instructor, and middle and high school teacher.
