Special Collections and Archives Fund

Financial gifts to the UCI Libraries Special Collections and Archives fund support the preservation, processing, digitization, and acquisition of rare and special materials; which are essential to the excellence of the Libraries’ research collections.

Please see below for information on the funding priorities:

Your gift can help to hire staff needed to process and preserve the Libraries’ rare materials such as Shakespeare’s First Folio, and diverse collections such as our widely-recognized Southeast Asian Archive

Recent gifts have helped to support the new Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive (OC&SEAA) Center; as well as collections related to LGBT history, women's organizations, and environmental activism in Orange County.

Monetary gifts support ongoing efforts to collect unique or rare books, manuscripts, archives, and photographs that support primary research, such as our renowned artists books and materials in dance

Gifts of materials in the areas of collecting strength are also welcome. Please contact Library Development at (949) 824-4651 or at partners@uci.edu if you’re interested in making this kind of gift. All inquiries will be considered in consultation with the Libraries’ Head of Special Collections and Archives to determine appropriate fit with our collections.

Your gift can support library efforts to make research in special collections more accessible by benefiting library initiatives that allow access to materials online, such as with our Online Archive of UCI History

Gifts to this fund can also encourage young scholars to conduct research within special collections by funding awards such as the Southeast Asian Archive Anne Frank Visiting Researcher Award or Archival Research Fellowship for UCI Students.
